Pathein City

      Pathein is a port city and the capital of Ayerwaddy Division , Myanmar . It lies on Pathein River , which is a branch of the Irrawaddy River . Pathein is the fourth largest city in Myanmar and situated at west of Yangon . Pathein was a part of the Mon ( one of Myanmar's ethical ) Kingdom . the British built a fort and established a garrison in 1826 , after the First Anglo Burmese War .

     The city is rice-milling and export center . Aside from several rice mills , the town has numerous sawmills and umbrella workshops . The colorful handmade parasols made in Pathein are widely known throughout Myanmar . they are known lacally as " Pathein Htee " . Pathein is also known for its pottery and colorful handmade baskets and buckets . Chaung Thar Beach , Ngwe Saung Beach , Zalun Pagoda and Maw Tin Soon Pagoda are surrounded on Pathein city as travel places .
